Infections and Emotions
Infections in the reproduction organs, and the emotional states / psychological circumstances that can accompany them.
There are Damp and Dry infections.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) worry is often associated with dampness, and fear with dryness. It is easy to see how common it is for those who encounter a variety of reproductive organ infections to experience both!
Other Possible Infection triggers (can cause an infection to “flare up”):
sperm in the vaginal canal
saliva in/around the vaginal canal
allergies or sensitivities to products like lubes, condoms, sex toys
harsh soaps
pads/tampons with harsh chemicals
adhd / autism / depression - holding urine or difficulty showering or cleaning frequently or thoroughly enough (the struggle is real!)
Speaking to or seeing a person where there are repressed feelings surrounding that person.
Past Sexual abuse/rape can cause infections to flare up when there is any physical intimacy
self-rejection
shame
critical mother lines (lineage of criticism)
a loss of boundaries, not being able to speak up
TCM believes the following can be an emotional pattern within those who have recurring reproductive organ infections: Carrying repressed feelings and resentments. Something is bothering them, but they’re not doing anything about it. The feelings are “eating them up on the insides”.
What is recommended in addressing these emotional correlations?
Find some way to get these feelings out!
Some ways to release can be:
journaling
artwork
dance/movement
seeing a therapist, or talking with a trusted and close friend, family member, or spiritual healer
This pattern of holding onto feelings could trigger infections or keep the infection stuck and from moving out.
Here is a meditation practice that can help with held emotions in the reproductive organs and it can be done while steaming.
Rooting Into The Cervix
Imagine the cervix as your root and portal opening - a doorway.
The cervix is glowing, full of love and self-acceptance. There is no judgment there, only love.
Imagine this glowing warm cervix as a root that extends down into the vagina and keeps going into the earth, maybe it even passes through water first, on its way into the earth.
Anchor into the ground. Send your fears, worries, shame, past traumas, and hurts into the ground.
Here, in the ground, they can be composted.
******
Once you are familiar with the first part of this meditation and have been practicing releasing emotion into the ground through your “glowing cervical root”, you may also experience good feelings of strength and connection as your cervical root is nourished and held by the earth. Send these feelings of love and strength back up the cervical root through your vagina, into your glowing cervix, into your womb, then on to your heart.
(This is also a meditation for mother wound tending, mother-line tending)
