Supportive Herbal Teas

Hello friends! I am creating this resource for clients who would benefit from regularly soaking the digestive systems (urinary, gut, nerve) with soothing, hydrating herbal infusions that provide nourishing plant support.

I have chosen Traditional Medicinals as the brand to focus on because they are widely available throughout the usa, (not because I benefit from sharing their name in any way), and because they have very simple blends making it easy to separate them into categories for specific needs.

I am going to sort them into two main categories for pelvic steamers that correlate to the pelvic steamer types Keli Garza developed and I adapted into: The Tree, The Sun, The Butterfly, The River herbal categories for pelvic steam herbs, herbal teas, tinctures, bitters, oxymels and balms.

Which pelvic steamer type you currently fit into is assessed in an intake form and shared with you via my consultation process …but roughly

The Tree: menopause/post-menopause/excess heat

The Sun: infections (bacterial, viral, fungal)

The Butterfly: 27 days or less in cycle length, breakthrough bleeding, spotting, can have excess heat and infections also, as well as fibroids and more.

The River: 28 days or more in cycle length, plus lots of PMS/PPMD symptoms and other chronic issues such as endometriosis, fibroids, cysts, PCOS and more.

The two main herbal tea categories I will sort Traditional Medicinal teas into are Warming and Cooling. (While working on resolving imbalances it is useful to use herbs that support your body’s constitution.)

If your pelvic steamer type is The Tree or The Sun you will want cooling herbal teas.

If your pelvic steamer type is The River you will want to use warming herbal teas.

If your pelvic steamer type is The Butterfly you have a more complicated choice. You can use both cooling or warming depending on if you have any excess heat/dry symptoms, except ginger! Ginger is a warming uterine bleeding stimulant so if you have short cycles or bleed between periods, don’t use any of the ginger teas outside of your period days. If you have excess heat/dry symptoms use teas in the cooling category. If you do not have excess heat or dry symptoms, you can use from both the warming and cooling categories. (Feel free to email me if the Butterfly+ are the pelvic steam herbs you use, to discuss whether cooling or warming is best for you)

All of the pelvic steamer types can benefit from gut and nervous system support provided by herbal teas, a natural compliment to your pelvic steam routine.

Choose between cooling or warming based on your pelvic steamer type!

When using herbal teas I recommend steeping for a minimum of 8-10 minutes up to 15 min for a medicinal dose. (mints can get too strong if more than 10 min!)

Traditional Medicinal Teas sorted into two categories:

COOLING

  • Lemon Balm - gut + nerves

  • Dandelion Leaf & Root - gut

  • Spearmint - gut + nerves

  • Peppermint - gut + nerves

  • Triple Mint Daily Probiotic - gut + nerves

  • Fennel - gut

  • Nettle - gut

  • Hibiscus - nerves

  • Hawthorne & Hibiscus - nerves

  • Chammomile - gut + nerves

  • Chammomile and Lavendar - gut + nerves

  • Stress Ease Tension Relief - gut + nerves

  • Gas Relief - gut

WARMING

  • Healthy Cycle - gut + nerves

  • Ginger - gut

  • Tulsi & Ginger - gut + nerves

  • Ginger & Chammomile - gut + nerves

  • Ginger Aid - gut

  • Stress Ease Immune - gut + nerves

  • Belly Comfort - gut

  • Lemon Ginger - gut

There are other blends they offer but I don’t recommend them for various reasons. For instance:

Cup of Calm has Passionflower in it which can be uncomfortably overstimulating for some.

The Stress Ease Calm has Shatavari Root which can mess with hormones.

The Everyday Detox blend (Hibiscus and Schisandra Berry) is a wonderful combo but I would never take without licorice root or marshmallow root as Schisandra Berry is super drying…

I don’t recommend the Smooth Move blend because the herb Senna can be habit forming and weaken the bowels natural habits (use Yellowdock Root tincture instead!).

I don’t recommend the Pau D’Arco blend because it is an endangered South American tree, so it is not an ethical choice.

COMING SOON! I have crafted a handful of herbal tea blends to support the pelvic steaming work I do with clients…however they are not ready to purchase as I am still trying to figure out the most fair prices for everyone, and preparing the product for the website (photographs, labels, etc.).
